NMC is facing several revenue challenges as state funding and local property tax dollars fail to keep up with historic funding levels. Add to that the fact that unemployment is at a decades long low meaning more of our potential students are going to work rather than school. As our enrollment declines, we still need to provide high quality educational opportunities for our learners.
Given these challenges, I am very impressed that NMC’s staff was able to present the board with a budget that kept our tuition increase in line with inflation.
As a Trustee, it is never easy to make the decision to raise tuition but I remain confident that we are holding our costs down and providing high value for our community and our students.
